Setup GMail in Windows 8 Mail App Tutorial
Randy McKown here and in this video we’re going to be setting up a GMail account in the Windows 8 Mail app. When you start Microsoft Mail it asks you to add your Microsoft Account and that’s really all you can do. It doesn’t mean we can’t setup GMail. It just means Microsoft is forcing us to use their service. I know, I haven’t even seen the application yet and it’s already annoying me. But if you want to use it that’s what you got to do. So if you don’t have a Hotmail account click here to create one.Once you have your Microsoft account setup head back to Microsoft Mail and add your login and password and click save.
Once you have your Microsoft account setup head back to Microsoft Mail and add your login and password and click save. Ok, Mail is loading up and you can see my Hotmail account. Please, don’t email me at this account because I won’t get it. This is basically just a catch all for spam. Whenever I sign up for a website I use this email. Ok, so now lets get our GMail setup.
Open your charm bar by hovering in the lower right corner and choose settings. Now, scroll up to accounts. Next, we’re going to add an account. You can see we have a lot more options including one for our Google account.
Enter your GMail info. Once again, I’m going to use another spam email address I have. So, don’t bother messaging me through it. Click connect and now GMail is setup in my Microsoft Mail app. You can switch back and forth between accounts over here in the left sidebar. It’s a really basic email application but you know if thats all you need for checking emails on a daily basis it gets the job done.
